Lerida Estate is delighted to announce that two of its wines have won medals at the 2010 International Wine Challenge held in London. The results of the 27th annual tasting were announced on 18 May 2010 at the London International Wine Fair.

Lerida Estate won a silver medal for its 2008 Shiraz Viognier, and a bronze medal for its 2008 Botrytis Pinot Gris. These two particular wines have now won a total of 3 Trophies and 19 gold, silver and bronze medals in Australian and International wine shows, and follows very successful previous vintages of each of these wines.

The International Wine Challenge (IWC) is the world’s most prestigious and influential independent wine competition.  All wines (9000 this year!) were assessed blind, and judged for the wine’s faithfulness to variety, region and vintage. France received the greatest number of medals (947), followed by Australia (602) and Italy (394).

The wines at the IWC were each tasted by panels drawn from almost 400 experienced judges including many Masters of Wine. The Co-Chairmen - Tim Atkin MW, Sam Harrop MW, Charles Metcalfe and Derek Smedley MW were joined by global wine expert and TV personality Oz Clarke, making it a formidable judging team.

The IWC awards are the first of the 2010 wine show season for Lerida Estate, and follow a very successful 2009 show season for Lerida Estate, where the estate collected 3 Trophies and 56 gold, silver and bronze medals for its wines.
