2005 Pinot Noir - Exceptional Case Special

We are so excited by Lerida’s recent haul of trophies, medals and good reviews (and the continuing growth that we need to finance), that we have decided to ruthlessly cull older stock to make way for the new, highly-publicised vintages.  The 2007 cleanskin Pinot Noir was the first victim: it went in a flash.  The next sacrifice is the 2005 Pinot Noir (beautifully labelled!).

As 2005 was such a cool wet year, we think that this wine still has its best years ahead of it.  It is drinking beautifully now, and we are quite confident that it will improve into its next decade; that is 2015 onwards.  But our expansion plans need finance, our 2008’s are to die for and so, goodbye 2005!  At $22.75 a bottle or 35% off, this is a huge bargain.  Freight free makes this an absolutely un-missable offer. Also available at the cellar door if you want to taste before you buy.

2009 Awards for Lerida Estate Wines

The wine show season has just finished, and we are delighted to be able to announce that this year Lerida Estate wines collected four Trophies (including two Champion Wine Trophies) and 56 gold, silver and bronze medals.  Every single wine we have for sale has won one or more medals. While medals are not the only thing that most people consider when they are buying wines, it is reassuring to know that wine judges around Australia have recognised the quality of the wines made at Lerida Estate. If you have time over the Christmas/New Year period, why not come and taste some of the wines we have released in the last couple of months. I am sure you will be impressed with the quality. View the full list of our awards here...

Vintage Cellars Stores

Lerida Estate now has 6 of our wines ranged with Vintage Cellars stores in the ACT and NSW. If you are near a Vintage Cellars store, why not go in and see what is available. They often have pretty good specials on, and you never know what savings you might be able to make purchasing our wines as part of one of their specials. You are of course always welcome to ring us, email or visit us at the cellar door if you want to purchase our wines, as we have the full range available (unlike the Vintage Cellars stores).

Lerida Estate 2008 Lake George Botrytis Pinot Gris wins Trophy & Top Gold

Following the recognition given to Canberra District wineries in the recent publication ‘NSW Wines Uncovered’ where James Halliday listed 14 Canberra District wines in the Top 100 Wines of NSW, and several recent show successes, a Lerida Estate dessert wine has taken out a somewhat unexpected trophy in the home of the stickies, the Riverina International Sweet Wine Challenge.

The Lerida Estate 2008 Lake George Botrytis Pinot Gris was awarded the Trophy for the Best Young Sweet Wine – other varieties and blends. Entries were judged under the masterful eye of Stephen Brook, the London-based expert on sweet wines, assisted by Lester Jesberg of Winewise. Five days later, this wine also won top gold in its class at the Canberra Regional Show 2009. View the tasting notes and purchase this wine here...

2008 Shiraz Viognier wins Gold!

The Lerida Estate Shiraz Viognier continues its award-winning ways. The latest Shiraz Viognier to receive an award is the 2008 vintage. This received a Gold medal at the NSW Small Winemakers Show 2009. Malcolm the winemaker says that he thinks that this is the best one we have made so far. This wine will not be released until early next year.

Other medals we received from this show are:

Silver

2009 Viognier

Bronze
2009 Zenzi (Riesling) (the first year we have made a Riesling)
2007 Merlot Cabernet Franc
2006 Brut Rose
2008 Botrytis Pinot Gris

2007 Lerida Estate Shiraz Viognier: Best of the Best

We were delighted by the recent news that James Halliday has ranked the 2007 Lerida Estate Shiraz Viognier as one of the best Shiraz Viognier wines in Australia (95/100). It was ranked 4th behind the Clonakilla (97/100), Spinifex ((96)  and Pepper Tree (96/100) Shiraz Viognier. Other Lerida Estate wines that ranked highly were the 2007 Chardonnay (only 17 cases left, but the 2008 is, Jim says, going to be rated even more highly!), the 2008 Pinot Gris (sold out); the 2008 Unwooded Chardonnay; the 2007 Pinot Noir and the 2008 Botrytis Pinot Gris.
