Hi, there. We're Lerida Estate.

Nestled at the foot of the Cullerin Range at Lake George, Lerida Estate Winery is dedicated to making distinctive, world class, wines that represent the unique and beautiful site on which they are grown. Through the combination of cutting edge vineyard management, meticulous winemaking, a magnificent cool climate site and our spectacular Glenn Murcutt designed winery, Lerida Estate strives to provide a welcoming and memorable visitor experience to stand alongside our exceptional Canberra District wines.

WHY WE MAKE GREAT WINES

Lerida Estate is the manifestation of a long-held passion to make outstanding Pinot Noir. The selection of Lerida as a vineyard and winery site was influenced by the work of Dr. Edgar Riek at, next-door, Lake George Wines. Favouring wild yeast fermentation and naturally ripened bunch tannins, Edgar succeeded in making some of the greatest New World Pinots we have seen.

With Edgar’s experience in mind we aspire to produce world class Pinot Noir, made from low-yielding vines with elegant, secondary flavours using wild yeast and minimal intervention. The best of Australian Pinot Noir fruit with French-style elegance, complexity and structure.

Beyond Pinot Noir we also grow Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Viognier, Riesling, Cabernet Franc and Shiraz. Shiraz also produces fantastic fruit from our site, although tremendous demand requires us to seek fruit from growers in the broader Canberra District. We select our growers with a view to sourcing fruit that complements that grown on our site and we value the relationships we have with some of the best grape producers in the region.

Objectives

To realise the full potential of our high, cool Lake George terroir and produce outstanding wine using low yielding vines, with minimal intervention, to maintain freshness and purity of fruit character. Rely primarily on grapes from our vineyards on Lake George yet enhance our offering with fruit sourced from growers of super- premium fruit in the surrounding areas of Tumbarumba, Hilltops and Orange.

ESSENCE OF LERIDA ESTATE

Lerida Estate prides itself on excellence in design of both our wine and winery. Our wines are carefully crafted by our winemaker to reflect the Lake George ‘terroir’. The wines are now recognised as being among the most stylish not only in the Canberra District, but in Australia and internationally. Our winery is designed by the distinguished Australian architect, Glenn Murcutt, and ‘sits lightly’ on the ethereal Lake George landscape. Lerida Estate wines are made in small quantities and not always easy to find, but are increasingly sought after by those who are prepared to make the effort to seek out unique and rewarding taste experiences.wild yeast and minimal intervention.
